LE LUSTRE (The chandelier)

.Project of installation.

My reflexion is about humankind and his condition. The universal in the everyday life, in History. Two questions...how does the world we create act upon us in return? How can we suffer what we have created? And how does this influence our way of seeing? The other question refers to the fall. The physical fall and moral collapse...its repetition...the abandonment and the resistance. How does the infinite weakness and eternal strength define themselves in this human condition? How in everyday life humankind is overtaken by his condition? Why can we perceive the human condition in his overall. Why is everyday life the tragic life? The idea would be to say that what is universal in our mind creates the world and in return the world creates us individually. I would like to describe this circle. In this piece we shall consider negation as an obstacle to consciousness.

TECHNIQUE: This installation can take place in any space in any space as theater, cinema, or gallery. In a gallery the space shall be a reconstituted theatre ground. A space with seats, a scene and a curtain. A chandelier hangs from the ceiling behind the curtain. The sound is essential in this piece.
DESCRIPTION: The public is seated. The room is dark. The light comes up progressively while the sound goes on. The light then darkens back until the end of the sound, when the curtain lifts up. The chandelier is on the floor. The piece is finished.
SOUND-TRACK: 9'43". The sound is made with interviews of people on the phone or on the street. It is an answer to several questions. We don't hear the questions. On these recordings you can hear music of movies that remind you of a glorious time, passed away. The answer is always the same : NO.
